4 – Bees communicate through dance – they perform different dances depending on the type of information they want to convey.

5 – There are over 20,000 species of bees in the world and scientists estimate there could be as many as 100,000 more yet to be discovered!

6 – A honeybee’s wings beat 11,400 times per minute.

7 – Honeybees are social insects; there are about 20,000 bees per colony with different jobs such as building comb cells or producing honey and communicating with other members of the colony through dancing and pheromones.

8 – Honeybees can fly up to 15 miles per hour and a whole hive may have as many as 20,000 bees.

9 – A bee’s eyesight is six times better than human vision.

10 – The average lifespan of a honeybee is 6 weeks but some queens can live for more than two years.

20 – Honeybees need water at least once every three days because they produce wax scales on their bodies which can lead them to dehydrate if not replenished with water regularly.
