1 – Psychology is the study of human behavior and mental processes. Psychologists are experts in the brain, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

2 – The word psychology comes from the ancient Greek word “psyche” which means soul or mind.

3 – Cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT for short, which works to change a person’s thoughts and behaviors by teaching them skills they can use to manage their emotions better.

4 – Social cognitive theory, which focuses on how we learn from our environment and other people around us.

5 – The human brain is the most complicated object in the universe. Even though we only use 10% of our brains, it takes up 20% of our body’s energy.

6 – One-third of people will experience an emotional breakdown at some point in their lives.

7 – The first psychology laboratory was established by Wilhelm Wundt in 1879 at University of Leipzig, Germany.

9 – There are many different schools within psychology such as behavioralism which emphasizes observable behaviors; cognitive psychology which focuses on internal thoughts; evolutionary psychology which explains psychological traits as adaptations to long-term survival challenges; humanistic or person-centered approaches which focus on subjective experience taking priority over scientific research data.

There are many famous psychologists who have contributed to our understanding of human behavior including Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, B.F Skinner, Albert Bandura, and John Watson.

17 – There are over 130 different types of psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and psychodynamic or insight-oriented therapies.

18 – The field of psychology has expanded over the years from treating people with emotional issues to also studying how our brains function and why we do what we do.

Psychology is an important subject because it helps us understand ourselves better and learn more about human behaviors that affect our lives every day.

A theory called cognitive dissonance suggests that we feel uncomfortable when our beliefs don’t match up with reality or other people’s beliefs.

Cognitive dissonance resolves itself when we either change our beliefs to match reality, or change our perception about what reality really is like.
