1 – Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and lasts 29 or 30 days.

2 – Muslims fast (not drink or eat anything) during daylight hours (from dawn until sunset) for a whole month.

3 – During fasting, Muslims do not eat food, drink liquids, smoke cigarettes, chew gum, or have sex from dawn to sunset.

4 – Fasting helps remind them that God provides for all their needs and they should share with those who are less fortunate than themselves.

5 – Fasting or sawm is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with Shahadah (the declaration of faith), Salah (prayer), Zakat (alms-giving), and Hajj (pilgrimage).

6 – Fasting is believed to cleanse a person’s soul by freeing them from their worldly desires. There are exceptions for pregnant women and people who have medical conditions that prevent them from abstaining completely.

7 – Traditionally, people will gather after sunset to celebrate Eid al-Fitr (the festival that marks the end of Ramadan) by exchanging gifts and greeting one another.

8 – The word “Ramadan” comes from the Arabic root word ramida, which means scorching heat or dryness.

9 – The goal for many Muslims during this time is to become closer to Allah as they focus more on their spirituality. Also self-restraint and patience which will lead to greater faith in God.

10 – It was first prescribed to Muslims in 610 AD by Allah through revelations given to Muhammad.

11 – During this time it’s encouraged for people to spend more time praying and reading Quran. People are also encouraged to do good deeds and give charity during this period.

12 – The holy month lasts 29-30 days and starts on a different date every year according to lunar cycles.

13 – Prayers are performed at dawn, midday, midafternoon, sunset, and evening; each one lasting about 2 minutes.

14 – Women may wear cosmetics but must cover their hair with a headscarf when outside their homes or in public spaces where men might see them without it being appropriate for her to do so otherwise (such as at work).

Men should always wear proper Islamic attire when out in public places even if they’re just running errands alone.

15 – Fasting during Ramadan also helps teach compassion toward those who are less fortunate, as well as a sense of equality among all people.

16 – There are two types of Muslim holidays – Eid Al-Fitr which marks the end of Ramadan and Eid Al-Adha which commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael in response to God’s command.

17 – The new moon determines the start of Ramadan. It takes place on the lunar cycle, meaning that it shifts from year to year.

18 – Ramadan is the holiest month of the Islamic calendar.

19 – There are two main meals consumed during Ramadan. The first is suhoor which is eaten before dawn and then the second meal is iftar which is served at sunset.

20 – People who are sick or traveling may be exempt from fasting but they must make up these missed days later on if possible.

21 – In some countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia it is customary to greet someone by saying “Ramadan Kareem” which translates to “May you have a generous Ramadan.”

22 – The prophet Muhammad broke his fast by eating a handful of dates which is why they are also a common choice for a snack before the evening meal.

23 – Fasting is done not only for spiritual reasons but also because it teaches patience, humility, self-control, compassion, generosity, empathy towards others who have less than you do etc., which all lead to peace both inside oneself as well as with other people in society at large.

24 – During Ramadan, Muslims are also encouraged to read through the Quran in its entirety at least once. There’s a special prayer called taraweeh that is performed after dark each day for about 20 minutes.

25 – There are five prayers a day which take place at dawn (fajr), noon (zuhr), afternoon (asr), sunset (maghrib) and evening (isha).

19 - There are many different types of psychologists who may specialize in different areas like child development, social behavior, neuropsychology, or clinical psychology


20 - There are many different branches of psychology including cognitive psychology which focuses on how people think; developmental psychology which looks at changes in psychological process over time; clinical psychology which deals with mental disorders and treatment; industrial-organizational psychology which helps businesses improve their work force by providing insights into human behavior at work
