1 – Superstition can be defined as a belief that one event influences another unrelated event. Belief in superstitions is an ancient phenomenon.

2 – Common superstitions are knocking on wood, throwing salt over your shoulder, and crossing fingers for good luck.

Most cultures have their own set of superstitions; these may vary depending on region and religion.

3 – There are many different types of superstitions including lucky charms, not walking under ladders or believing black cats being bad luck.

4 – Some studies show that believing in something may actually make it happen more often because the person believes it will happen and therefore puts more effort into their actions (e.g., someone who believes they’ll get a promotion soon starts acting like they already got the job).
