1 – Weird as it sounds, toilet water is filtered and treated so it is safe to drink – just as safe as your normal tap drinking water.

2 – A gallon of tap water has about 8 drops of chlorine.

3 – Tap water is regulated by EPA standards so that it doesn’t exceed a certain level of contamination.

4 – Bottled waters are regulated by FDA standards which means they contain less contaminants because they’re filtered more effectively.

5 – Water from a filter jug tastes better because there are no chemicals or bacteria present in it, but if you don’t have one at home then boiling tap water for 1 minute can also do the same thing as filtering it does.

6 – The average American uses about 80 gallons of water per day.

7 – A slowly leaky faucet can waste up to 9000 litres of water each year while a visibly leaky tap can waste more than 60,000 litres.

8 – You should wash your hands with warm water and soap for 20 seconds before eating or cooking food – this is the only way to properly kill germs!

9 – Most people flush their toilets 5 times per day which wastes about 5-6 gallons per flush.

12 – Drinking too much water can also be dangerous – drinking more than 4 lits of water in an hour may cause your electrolytes levels to change or hyponatremia.

13 – Humans can survive for up to 3 weeks without food, but only 3 days without water.

14 – Americans use an estimated 400 million plastic bottles each year, and recycle less than 1/3 of them.

24 – Every day we use around 70 liters or 18 gallons to drink, cook, bathe, clean our clothes and ourselves and wash dishes.

25 – Water helps to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating. Water regulates blood sugar levels by helping insulin work more efficiently in the body. Drinking enough fluids is important for your health and wellbeing.

Water is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom that form a molecule called H2O.
